If you could take the Amplifire and add the effects section of Biax FX youd have a killer unit. Oh well, it just made me realize how good my Amplifire sounds. The Modulation effects were great and all sounded really good, the delays were ok, some better than others, same went for the reverbs.Īll in all its a disappointing 150 bucks spent, wish you could get a refund for digital purchases. I absolutely loved the Drives and Boosts, do they all sound great? No, but for the most part they are all usable and all sound different and close enough to the original. It actually made me realize how good the Amplifire sounds, really right now the biggest weakness with the Amplifire is lack of effects and Amp models. Buuuutttt when comparing similar models to my Amplifire the Amplifire won out every time. The high gain amps were pretty good, I liked the large selection and for the most part they sounded good. When comparing the Plexi model and JCM800 model to my Amplifire in both low and high gain setting the Amplifire won out easily, even when using the same IR's. There's a large selection of them, which is nice, but the quality isnt quite there. The 'crunch' amps are OK, nothing to write home about. Unfortunately I dont do play a lot of clean stuff. I found the cleans to actually be really really good, probably better than my Amplifire. I used the new IrigHD 2 (which is awesome btw) and im just not impressed. I own an Amplifire and love it but I was looking for something a little easier to record with so I bought the professional version of Bias FX for my macbook.
